The first step of learning is to follow someone’s example.
学習の第一歩は誰かを手本に倣う事から始まる。

※習(なら)う事は倣(なら)う事でもある。この二つの言葉は本来同じ言葉であったと言われる。また “学(まな)ぶ” も “真似(まね)ぶ” が変化して出来た言葉で、学習が模倣から始まるという良い証左でもある。

※※なお英語の “learn” の語源は古英語の “leornian 学ぶ・教える(原義は「人の歩む道を導く」または「足跡をたどり経験を積む」” から来ており、19世紀初頭までの英語には “学ぶ” と “教える” に言語上の明確な区別はなかった。
