“feature film” はよく “長編映画” などと訳されるが、ヒッチコックの時代には長編の娯楽映画と記録映画などの短編作品が同時上映される事が多かった。客寄せとしての目玉作品という意味で feature film と呼ばれたのが始まりなので、長編記録映画を feature film と呼ばない訳ではないが、ここではフィクションの娯楽映画という意味であろう。
